Data Analyses Lead To Improved
Cardiovascular Outcomes
Governor John Baldacci’s planned Maine Quality Forum will need to look no
further than right here in northern New England for solid examples of how data
analyses and outcomes research have led to marked improvements in the quality of
health care services.
Speaking at last week’s first annual Dan Hanley Leadership Forum at Bowdoin
College, researcher Gerald O’Connor of the Dartmouth School of Medicine described

The award was presented during the
Dan Hanley Leadership Forum
sponsored by the Trust to promote a
shared model of health care leadership.
Twenty-two Maine health care
organizations participated in the Forum
which was held June 19 and 20 at
Bowdoin College.
Dr. Shannon, who also serves as
UNE vice president for health services,
has been dean of the UNE College of
Osteopathic Medicine since 1995.

Dr. Hanley was instrumental in the
establishment of the MHIC in 1976 and
the governance of the organization for
many years. The MHIC’s offices are
located in a building named for Dr.
Hanley in 1996.
