The MHIC's 30 person staff includes researchers, statisticians, project managers, and information technology professionals. The MHIC staff has a wide variety of technical skills including project management, database management, Oracle, Access and SAS programming, data linkage, data entry, survey methods, statistical analysis and graphics. This breadth of skills results in databases and output being customized to meet the needs of individual clients.

- Suanne Singer - President
Suanne Singer became MHIC's fourth President in October 2005. Ms. Singer has been with the MHIC since 1979 when she began as a Systems Analyst. Most recently, she has served as Vice President of Operations where she was responsible for the overall operation of the company and served an integral technical role in many of the MHIC's data projects. As the first manager of the Maine Health Data Processing Center, Ms. Singer led the MHIC's development of the nation's first all payer, all setting health and dental claims data bank. She is a Maine native and a Cum Laude graduate of Kansas State University with a B.S. in mathematics.
- John Davison - Director of Finance
John Davison of Auburn has joined the MHIC staff as Director of Finance. He succeeds Madeline Kilmister, who retired December 31, 2004 after 25 years of service to the MHIC. As Director of Finance, Davison is responsible for the Fiscal Management, Human Resources and Employee Relations, and Employee Benefits. Davison has nearly 20 years of experience in non-profit finance. Most recently, he headed the finance department at the Spurwink Institute. Davison graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Southern Maine in 1985 with a B.S. in Business Administration where he majored in accounting.
- Bill Perry - Vice President of Research and Data Applications
Bill Perry was named the MHIC’s Vice President of Research and Data Applications in February of 2003. Mr. Perry is regarded as one of Maine's leading authorities in health care data and finance. Prior to joining the MHIC, Bill headed CIGNA's 30-member New England Regional medical economics team. In addition to his experience with health insurance issues, Bill is especially knowledgeable about Maine's various discharge and other health care databases from his 14 years with the Maine Health Care Finance Commission and the Department of Human Services. He served on the Board of the new Health Care Data Processing Center (which is developing Maine's new all payer claims database) since its inception.
Bill earned a Master of Science in Health Program Evaluation from Hahnemann University (Drexel), in 1978. He is a magna cum laude graduate of Bowdoin College, where he earned an undergraduate degree in 1976.
- Karl Finison, M.S. - Director of Research
Mr. Finison has served as Director of Research at the MHIC since 1992. He has wide-ranging
experience working with discharge claims and other databases and has authored many of MHIC reports examining
health utilization and costs experienced by clients. He has partnered with many health
service research experts to review and analyze the health databases at the MHIC. Mr. Finison has a
Master's degree in Anthropology and has done graduate work in epidemiology and research
methodologies.
- Adam Thebeau - Director of Health Information Systems
Adam Thebeau joined the MHIC staff as Director of Health Information Systems in September, 2002. He oversees the information technology staff at the MHIC, as well as computer development and web development. He also serves as the primary technical contact for the Maine Health Data Processing Center. Before joining the MHIC, he worked at CIGNA for 10 years as senior analyst of Medical Economics and most recently as the New England Regional Manager of Contract and Analysis. Before that, he worked for 10 years at Bath Iron Works in Bath, Maine. Adam graduated from University of Maine at Orono with a two-year civil engineering degree and a BA in computer science with a minor in business administration.
